Why convert PNG to JPG at all
- Size: photographic or complex images in PNG form are often 5–10× larger than the same image as a quality-90 JPG. Screenshots, photos saved as PNG by mistake, exports from design tools — all shrink dramatically.
- Compatibility: many upload forms (job applications, government portals, CMS platforms) accept "JPG only". JPG never gets rejected.
- Which one is right: PNG is for sharp edges, text, transparency (logos, diagrams, UI screenshots that must stay crisp). JPG is for photos and anything you send, upload or embed where size matters.

The transparency catch (and how it's handled)
JPG has no transparency layer. A PNG logo on a transparent background becomes either black or white behind the image, depending on the converter. For screenshots and photos this never matters — they have full backgrounds anyway. For logos and graphics, keep them as PNG: that's what PNG is for. This tool composites transparent areas onto white, so nothing turns black unexpectedly.

Questions people ask
Will the JPG lose quality?
JPG is lossy, but at quality 85–90% the difference is invisible in normal use — and the file is a fraction of the size. The quality slider puts you in control.
What happens to transparent areas?
They're composited onto white (JPG has no transparency). For logos that need transparency, keep them as PNG — this tool lets you choose the output format.
Does converting change the image dimensions?
Only if you want it to. Leave the size settings alone for a pure format change, or set a max dimension to resize at the same time.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
